Aker Contractors is now heading into its 50th year in Business. We are a family business specializing in Additions, Whole House renovations, Kitchen, Bathrooms and Basements. The company was started by Earl Aker as a sole proprietor, and his son, Carmen, joined the company in 1985. Together they have grown the company, built trusting partnerships with various local architects, plumbers, electricians, and tradesmen, and in 1993 added The Cabinet Corner – Design Center and Showroom. Earl retired in 2013, and the company continues to thrive and expand under Carmen. Carmen continues to pride the business on a superior level of craftsmanship and attention to detail as his father ran it.
The Cabinet Corner was added in 1993 as a full-service Kitchen and Bath design center and showroom to enhance the level of service we can provide to our clients and expand our business. We have professional designers on staff to assist you with the design and styling our your space. The showroom features displays of stock and fully custom cabinetry, counter-tops, backsplash tile, floor tile, wood and vinyl flooring, custom window treatments, and lighting to aide our clients with their selections. Carmen Aker
Carmen grew up working next to his father in the family business. After graduating from West Chester University in 1985, he officially joined the company full-time and worked as an installer, project manager, and contractor. In 2013, he took over the company when his father retired.
Carmen has lived in the area all his life and has built a strong community with his employees, the sub-contractors he works with, and his cliental. He is married and has 2 children. He is also responsible for providing all the sweets in the office!
Linda Hasz
Linda has worked as a decorating consultant since 1999 and formerly worked at MAB Paints as their in-house decorating consultant. In 2003, she received her Decorative Arts for Interiors Certificate from Moore College of Art. Through her independent business, she has coordinated many decorating projects from paint and color selections, window treatments, furniture arrangements, lighting, and much more.
In 2011, she partnered with Aker Contractors as their Kitchen and Bath Designer. Through working with AC, she has gained valuable experience in many diverse kitchen and bath projects. As a designer, her goal is to work efficiently and successfully with the client in helping them to achieve their design goals. Technical skills include 2020 Design, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
She is married and has a daughter and 2 sons. She loves to cook, paint, and play tennis.
Bonnie Simmons
Bonnie joined the team early 2020 and has taken on a lot of rolls. She works with clients to select materials, pick colors, and design their dream spaces along with helping to manage projects, order materials, and monitor installations. She also has her own business called Material Girl doing custom window treatments.
She is married and has a teenage son, and a puppy name Guinness. In 1991 she graduated from Philadelphia University with a degree in Interior Design. She has excellent taste and a great sense of style!
