Aker Contractors proudly entered its 50th year in business in 2020, continuing a legacy of quality craftsmanship and exceptional service. As a family-owned and operated company, we specialize in home additions, whole-house renovations, kitchens, bathrooms, and basements.
Founded by Earl Aker as a sole proprietorship, the company welcomed his son, Carmen Aker, in 1985. Together, they cultivated long-standing relationships with local architects, plumbers, electricians, and skilled tradespeople. In 1993, they expanded the business with the addition of The Cabinet Corner — a full-service kitchen and bath design center and showroom.
Following Earl’s retirement in 2013, Carmen has continued to lead Aker Contractors with the same dedication to quality and attention to detail that defined his father’s approach. Under his leadership, the company has continued to grow, earning a reputation for exceptional workmanship and client satisfaction.
The Cabinet Corner – Design Center & Showroom
Established in 1993, The Cabinet Corner was created to enhance the level of service we provide and broaden the scope of our offerings. Our showroom is staffed with professional designers who work closely with clients to create functional, stylish spaces tailored to their needs.
The showroom features a wide selection of products including stock and custom cabinetry, countertops, backsplash and floor tiles, hardwood and vinyl flooring, custom window treatments, and lighting solutions. Whether you’re updating a kitchen, bathroom, home office, laundry room, or entertainment area, we bring a touch of elegance and expert design to every project.
Meet Carmen Aker
Carmen Aker grew up working alongside his father in the family business, developing a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and hard work from an early age. After graduating from West Chester University in 1985, he officially joined Aker Contractors full-time, taking on roles as an installer, project manager, and contractor. In 2013, Carmen assumed ownership of the company following his father’s retirement.
A lifelong resident of the Phoenixville area, Carmen has built lasting relationships within the community — not only with clients, but also with the dedicated team of employees and trusted subcontractors he works with every day. Known for his hands-on leadership and attention to detail, Carmen continues to uphold the values the company was founded on more than 50 years ago.
Outside of work, Carmen enjoys family life with his wife and two children — and is proudly known as the official provider of sweets in the office!
Meet Bonnie Mooney - Designer
Bonnie has been with the Aker Contractors team since 2020. Bonnie manages our design showroom. She is an experienced Kitchen and Bath Designer known for creating timeless, functional and beautifully curated spaces. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for blending style with practicality, Bonnie transforms every project into a reflection of her clients’ lifestyle and taste. Meet Natalie Lawton — Office Manager
Natalie acts as a central point for operational tasks at Aker Contractors ensuring projects run smoothly by managing schedules, finances and communications between clients, office staff and field teams. Natalie oversees budgeting, payroll, and financial reporting to help maintain the company’s growth and stability. She maintains the office with a focus on organization, efficiency, effective communications and customer service. Her dedication and attention to detail help create the seamless experience clients have come to expect from Aker Contractors.
